FTP SOFTWARE : FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol and the software is used to transfer selected files on your computer to your domain hosting account.
The software we recommend for this is WS_FTP or CuteFTP both these programs can be obtained as shareware, or you can get an evaluation version of WS_FTP from http://bcms.econs.net/downloads/1/FTP-Clients
UPLOADING FILES :
Before you connect to the server to transfer your files ensure that you are online with your ISP.
Connect the FTP software to your domain account using the information you have received from us.
You will only need to enter 3 pieces of information :
hostname/address : yourdomain.com
username : see account information
password :
Note that he account information is case sensitive so it must be entered exactly. Take care not to copy in a blank space.
To upload files you need to select the file from your computer and then press the right arrow to transfer it to the server.
Unfortunately Econs cannot support FTP software that we do not recommend.
DELETING FILES: FTP software can be used to delete files from the server directory, although you must not delete any files you can not created yourself as this may affect the performance of your website.
FIREWALLS: Firewalls may be set up at your work location. These prevent data transfer between non specified locations and may prevent you from uploading your files. To resolve this please contact your local network administrator, or use an external dial up connection.
